Hey everybody my name is Jen Brown. I'm a professional makeup artist for 15 years and a certified health and wellness coach, and I am really excited to be collaborating with Walgreens to bring you some really fun beauty and skincare tutorials.

Not only do I love all things beauty, and makeup, and skincare, but I'm also really passionate about the health and wellness of our bodies. That being said, all the products showcased in these videos are thoughtfully handpicked by me.

Now, I personally take the time to cross-check the ingredient list on the EWG website. We'll make sure to link it down below so you can see what they're all about, but I do this just to ensure that I personally feel comfortable and confident using these products, as well as referring them out.

Hey everyone Jen here, and today I'm going to walk you through how to prep your skin for makeup. So prepping the skin before you apply the makeup is critical to making sure that the makeup goes on smoothly and lasts longer. Alright.

So, before you put anything on your skin, it's important to make sure that your skin is clean. So, you want to make sure there's no leftover residue from the night before, or makeup, or anything like that and I typically don't do a full face wash in the morning just because I try not to over-cleanse my skin. But what I do use is the Bioderma Sensibo h2o. So, I am obsessed with this. I've been using this product for years. It's French, it's luxurious. Basically, micellar water is comprised of tiny little micelles. Okay, so those are microdroplets that help to escort dirt, and pollution, and makeup off of the skin, while keeping the skin's ph intact. So I like to use this on like a reusable cotton pad and just do a quick swipe on my face to make sure it's cleansed.

So, now that we know the skin is clean we want to go ahead and hydrate that skin. This is where good consistent skincare is going to be your friend. If you are regularly hydrating your skin from the inside out, so drinking lots of water and adding a topical moisturizer every single day, your skin will be better balanced. Now, I just did a video recently with Walgreens about morning skincare routines and in it, I recommended a few different daytime moisturizers so you can feel free to check that out.

So, after you make sure the skin is hydrated, you want to make sure you add a makeup primer. Now, makeup primers exist for a reason, they are a lifesaver. They really help to smooth out the skin surface. They actually give the makeup a little something to hold on to so the makeup doesn't budge throughout the day. It's not going to run, or move, or travel, and it's also going to last a lot longer. Now, for me, I always look for added hydration because I love a good glow. And the one that I found, that I think is super solid and really enjoy, is the Revlon Prime Plus. This is their perfecting and smoothing formulation. The other thing that stood out to me about this product was that it's actually EWG verified.

So, this is the site that I run all my products through, just to cross-check the ingredient list. This label essentially ensures to me that it's met the strictest criteria for transparency and health, which is really important to me.

So, that's makeup skin prep. You want to make sure that your skin is clean, hydrated, and you use a good makeup primer.
